Náprstek museum has its important person Vojtěch Náprstek (1826 - 1894). He was an explorer, politician and promoter of innovative ideas. Náprstek founded Czech Industrial Museum which was based on his travel experiences in America. The museum was located on the former site of the family brewery (today the building of Náprstek Museum). He gathered here artistic and ethnographic items brought here by his friends travelers and created here center for Czech intelligence . After his death the museum was renamed to the Museum of Ethnography and after 1946 was collection mainly focused on non-European cultures. Náprstkovo Museum belongs to the the National Museum since 1932.
