The Arts and Theatre Institute (ATI) is an organization established and funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. It was established in 1959 as Theatre Institute and nowadays it is based in baroque Manhart house in Celetná street in Prague.

The ATI is a modern and open centre devoted to information, research, consultation, education, and production in the field of theatre; in addition to all these activities it acquires, processes, conserves, and display collected items and archive documents that are connected with theatre.

The Scenography Collection of the Theatre Institute was established in 2006. The collection focuses on artefacts by Czech artist created on the territory of the Czech republic (since the 20’s of the 20th century to present) and contains original set and costume designs, maquettes, puppet designs, sketches or technical drawings. Among personalities represented in the collection there are Vlastislav Hofman, František Tröster, Josef Svoboda, Jan Sládek, Libor Fára, Luboš Hrůza, Otakar Schindler, Jaroslav Malina, Miroslav Melena, Jan Dušek, Marta Roszkopfová, Helena Anýžová, Jana Zbořilová, Jana Preková and more.

Digitized collection items are interconnected with other databases of ATI (Documentation Bibliography, Photography Collection and Fund, Set Designs Fund, Video Library, Library) and available within the Virtual Study (http://vis.idu.cz/?lang=en). Ideally it is possible to get there complete information both about particular elements of the productions and its resultant form.
